Under Cover was founded in New York City in 1995 by current company president Kelli Arsenault.
After graduating from Parsons School of Design, Kelli worked in the fashion business on 7th Avenue, while maintaining an ever growing second career in fabric design and construction. By 1995, business was such that a real company needed to be founded, and so Under Cover was born.
Under Cover initially made its mark as a designer and manufacturer of various padded covers for a number of high profile artists, including Ashley Bickerton, Matthew Barney, and Barry Ball. Some of the pieces that Kelli designed and constructed included padded walls and floors for an entire public parking garage in London, form-fitted covers for life-size hammerhead sharks, and a few fitted coconut covers, as well.
During this time, Kelli’s husband Peter was actively pursuing a career as a live sound reinforcement engineer. It wasn’t long before Kelli picked up on the professional audio industry’s need for padded bags and pro audio covers, and Under Cover as we know it today was off and running.
In 2006, Under Cover relocated from New York City to coastal Southeastern Massachusetts, to accommodate an ever-growing need for space. Peter simultaneously joined the company full time to head up Under Cover’s sales team.
Under Cover has continued to thrive, even during the recent economic downturn, and we look forward to a bright future where we get the entire world Under Cover!
